From what I know this Obama debt settlement commercial promised consumers free money to pay off debt, which is indeed not true. Government grants are for different purposes other than consumer credit help in these times.
Pay debt or invest?
I'd rather pay my debt first. Debts are a priority and as such need to be taken care of in the soonest possible time. Investments can come later. I consider investing as a way of personal gratification. I'd rather deny myself of that first.
