If you have more month than money, how do you decide which bills to pay and which to let go? I used to find myself in this boat, and I always paid anything that would have a late fee or do harm to my credit if I missed a payment. I found that the utility companies and clinics would give me a couple weeks grace period without penalty.

I'm with you. Pay whatever is going to have the greatest penalty for not paying on time. For me utilities would come last for me assuming they're not going to get shut off.Any debts that won't hit me with a late fee an penalty rate would next to last.

I will pay which one the important thing first. Like my internet bills, my electricity and others bills. My car also need to pay every month. But if i have more money in my balance, i will pay some at my student loans. After that i will spend for myself.

For me, first goes to car loan, second to insurance, third for home rental fee, then last for electricity & water bills. All these have penalty of late payments. Other than these come last on my monthly budgets.

I always beg to differ? i am a rich dad enthusiast and will pay them on time, but before i do that i make sure the mobey i will use to pay bills will atlease earn money first before paying it to the cresitor. In that way it seems like i payed for free. It seems easy but needs skills to do so..

Your father pay for you? Thats good because you have rich father. My father is not rich like you. But its fine. I prefer to pay my own bills than use my fathers money. If you student, no need to try hard. Just focus to study and let the bills to your father. Hehe.: D

I never used credit cards and never had any debt. Now as I am approaching 50, I find myself with a lot of bills. My children and I had a lot of medical problems last year with several hospitalizations. I paid off what I could and have set up payment plans to pay the rest a little bit each month. But paying my utilities and rent comes first. I have to have a place for us to live.

Surfville, I do like your idea of making money from investments before paying bills. I will have to look into that.

The Richest Man In Babylon said pay yourself first. It sounds pretty logic to me as you fully deserved the payment after working so hard for it. You should be the first person to reap the benefit.Seriously, I think you should make payment to your house first. It is the single largest loans most of us have. And an important one too. You wouldn't want to lose your shelter over anything else.

I second paying on the house first. Then after that would come car note, then any other necessary bills such as electricity, water, etc. However, in my position, my car note is a bit more lenient than my house payment.
