Does Family Take Your Savings?

It seems in my family, if anyone knows you are saving money they will be at your doorstep with a hard luck story in hopes of using your hard-earned money to fund their own overspending.  I am a hard-nose who will not lend money, so they don't get far with me.  Do you have problems with family asking you for money?

Fortunately no one in my family has ever asked.  Lending money to family just has bad idea written all over it IMO.

Every months 15% of my income goes to my parent. Certain time, my sibling asking to borrow some from me. For small amount, I've no concern, but if too much then only need to look seriously into it. If I lend them money, the next month after that I'll collect them back. So far for now, not that much. Still able to control.

Some of the relatives does that and it is not a great thing to do, But sometimes they have a very bad habit of asking money that they didn't know how hard you made them.

Family is probably one of the biggest pits that ever existed. Yes, I have a son who constantly borrows money and always with the intention of paying it back. Unfortunately for us when he has the money, he seems to have another emergency and the money he would have paid us (according to him) had to go for that emergency. I know how to stop our merry go round ride w/him but haven't done it to date. It takes a firm no and sticking to it. But, w/us, that's easier said than done. So, family can be quite challenging. I guess each one of us has to deal w/it as we think is best for us.

I give my parents a portion of my paycheck every month. They have already retired so they do not have a paycheck. It was because of them so that today I could be like this. Personally, I have a sister, but she has a good husband, so she doesn't borrow money from me.

I have not had family ask to borrow money as they know that my husband works hard for the money and I work hard at budgeting and stretching that money in order for us to make it.  If they fell on hard times, I am more than willing to sit down with them and coach them and show them how to budget and  how to make a few extra dollars.  Giving money is too easy and they will not learn anything except where the comforting money tree is.

Yes I do have problems sometimes with my family, I lend to my younger sister but not to my older brother who is irresponsible.

I luckily don't have anyone who has ever really asked to borrow money, in my family. I really hope to never be in that position either, because I have a hard time saying no, even though I'd want to! I don't exactly have money to just hand out to people!
