Stay out of the Stores!

I have found that by staying out of the mall and by going to Wal-Mart every other week instead of every week, I am saving a lot of money.  I didn't think I was much of a shopper anymore, but I now see that I was making a lot of smaller, unplanned purchases every time I was in the store.  This small change in my behavior is adding up to big savings.

Yeah people gets to impulsive all the time when they are in the malls that in turn make them buy things they don't need, that is really sad though. because you get to max out your credit unintentionally and regret after ward.

Yes its a true point, we should be avoiding much shopping and unwantedly buying some products wich is not needed for our life. Thus staying out of stores in the weekend and not planning to for purchasing oftently will be of better choice and surely we could have enough saving than before and I have the experience for being like that.

that is true because once you get in a shop and you see something you might like it on the spot and whant it....and this way you spend more that you`ve planned.by going twice a month to Wal-Mart you still buy things that you weren`t going to but they are a lot fewer because maybe that day you aren`t  feeling like eating/having what you see.in the end it all depends on the mood of the certain day.

Agree. We need to always remember, what we want is not what exactly we need. Buy only when necessarily need, a little saving now may soon become an enormous amount.

Sometimes we also need to control emotions.. We could not stay out of stores all the time. But even if we are there if we could get control ourselves then we won't be spending un intentionally.

I tend to buy DVDs when I'm at Wal*Mart. I find it easier to justify when they're marked down in price. Also in the big box stores, it's important to be aware of the typical cost of things. They're not necessarily a good deal just because there are a bunch in a package. That's something I need to be more aware of.

Excellent advice JeanLorie. I know me and my wife are guilty of shopping too much. We always seem to forget an item or two and have to go back. It's hell getting old but I think that is why God invented shopping lists. She didn't want us old people out on the road. After all, you know how old people drive...

I don't go to the store without a shopping list. I keep the list on the fridge and put items on it as I need them. When the list is looking full, I go shopping. This goes for food shopping or clothes shopping for me and my daughter or whatever. I check the sale catalogues for deals and such. Then I only buy what's on the list. No cheating and buying treats or DVDs or whatever. Just what's on the list.

I agree it makes a big difference to change just a few habits like that. The money you save could really amaze you.
