The 4th Credit Bureau

Everyone has heard of Experian, Equifax and Trans Union but not everyone has heard of Innovis. Innovis is considered the 4th largest credit bureau in the U.S. as well as a major player in the field. It is in your best interest to learn about them.

I requested a copy of my credit report from them early this year and noticed all of my major credit accounts reported to them just like they report to the so called Big Three. Innovis does not generate a credit score for either businesses or consumers so that is probably one reason people don't know about them.

But, and this is a big but, the major retailers know about them and report your account to them. Their toll free number is: 1-800-540-2505 and their address is: Innovis, PO Box 1358, Columbus, OH 43216-1358.

I had not hard of Innovis until reading your post.  Have you heard of any lenders who actually pull from them when determining the credit-worthiness of a borrower?  I am also curious to learn if there is anything about their service that sets them apart from the other bureaus.

I have not heard of any lenders who pull from Innovis given Innovis doesn't use the credit scoring system. I don't know of any factors that set them apart from other bureaus other than they don't use a scoring system. However, they still exist and still have a reporting base consisting of the largest credit grantors in the US. I would suppose some lenders use them but can't pinpoint any at the moment.

Having said all that, I will repeat my remarks. Since the big boys know Innovis exists and use their services, if I was a consumer who uses credit, I would want to know what they have in my file. Somebody, somewhere uses them or they wouldn't exist.

Using a pound of prevention with credit agencies is probably the wisest move anyone can make.
