A lot of student borrowers do not understand the difference between subsidized and unsubsidized student loans. Unsubsidized loans can cost a student thousands more in interest, so students need to be aware of the total cost of the loan. Read over the terms and conditions of your student loan to make sure you understand what type of loan you are getting.

I just explained the difference to my sister who is getting ready to go to school. I made sure all of mine were subsidized and I am glad I did. I dont think I knew what the difference was at the time, but learned afterrwards.

If you make enough money to live on, chances are you will not qualify for a federal subsidized loan. You may be able to find one from a private lender but I would not know how to go about that.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know the difference between the two types of student loans. But I do now. I hope to find more student grants, but they are rare and few and far in between. Will keep looking.
