debt elimination attorney scams, what are they? -- I haven't heard of that too, although debt elimination scams are not new. Here's what MSN says about their modus operandi:
Heres how it works: For a stiff upfront fee -- sometimes $2,500 or more -- you can get a certificate to take to your bank that supposedly eliminates your obligation to repay your mortgage, credit cards or other debt.

Hi Mr. Monk, basically to avoid getting into trouble with the scammers, never ever commit to anything unless you have the debt validation in writing. No validation, no debt. But what if you owe the debt and it's been validated? Also, what if you can't afford to pay the whole balance? You may want to look into debt relief. Depending on your total balance and account status, you can do either debt settlement or credit counseling.

Many debt settlement companies claim to have a network of attorneys working for them when they actually do not.
