You know the best part about dealing with unsecured credit card debt in texas is their collection laws. Consumers are judgment proof there so the consumer has a lot of time to find debt relief.

Just to correct the previous post, not all is judgment proof, to be exact Texas opted out of federal law authorizing card companies to garnish the consumer income even after it has obtained judgment. With the exception of child support, back taxes owed, or student loan in default.

Hey Ken, for your unsecured credit card debt, you can do either debt settlement or credit counseling - depending on your total amount owed and account status. Those are better alternatives to either a loan or a bankruptcy.

How much would they cost? How are they going to affect my credit? How long would they take? And can you recommend companies?

The fees?Credit counseling is non-profit but their Debt Management Plan would cost around $25/mo. after the one time set up fee.Debt settlement companies would charge 15% of your total debt amount -spread over 18 months or they will take between 20-25% of the settlement amount.

How long would they take? credit counseling runs for 3-5 years, and debt settlement 1-3 years. And can you recommend companies? Unfortunately no...but what you need are guidelines on how to find trustworthy companies..
