Is apex debt relief a scam? - hey there, and 2 and a half, that might be the wrong company. I checked Apex Debt Relief with the Better Business Bureau and here's what they have to say: -an F rating -and zero complaints http://www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/Apex-Debt-Relief-Inc-100086227

Oh sorry, and thanks, would just like to make a comment then on that F rating, and it's probably because of their business start date: 2/26/09. The BBB has been strict lately with debt settlement companies' years in operation. I heard that some really good debt settlement companies have been stripped of their accreditation just early this year because of that and also issues with fees?

Thanks, but what does that mean? Are they a good company? Also, what's the BBB's basis for their rating? What if the company is not accredited? How would I know which company to choose?

I guess it means that you should call the company and see if theycan provide you with what you need. Also, BBB ratings on a debt settlement company are based on the following:-accreditation with the BBB-how long the industry has been in operation-how long the debt settlement company's been in operation-if the government has taken an action against the company-number of complaints filed against the company, and whether it was resolved or not-if there's any advertising issues against the company-if  the company has supplied the BBB with a clear and sufficient profile of their operation

What if the company is not accredited? How would I know which company to choose? -- It's okay as long as they are a member of TASC and here's a guideline for you - on what to look for in a settlement company - -The settlement company's program must have a fast completion time. 12-36 months. -The program must be able to protect and improve the consumer's credit standing. -Must be a member of the Better Business Bureau, BBB, for at least 5 years. -Must also have a good standing with the Chamber of Commerce -A Member of TASC - The Association Of Settlement Companies and the IAPDA or the International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators

I went to their website to see if it contains what the consumer might need to know about them and debt relief, and I find that it does - http://www.apexdebtrelief.com/about.html

I have found that ALL debt settlement companies are listed very poorly with the bbb, even with ZERO complaints, like Apex. I don't put much stock in the bbb. I have always found them to be a "pay to play" type of organization with $ as their only motive.
