Does anyone know anyone who has filed bankruptcy from abroard? I maintain an address in the US, which is my parents house, pretty much my house, too. I have talked to a few attorneys; they either say "I need to look into that," or "you got the address? It's on your bank account? Tax return? No problem!" Has anyone done this for real?

You may visit your state's bankruptcy site, read up, and you'd need to download the necessary forms/documents/papers on the website of the state/district that you are filing. You might want to seek the counsel of a bankruptcy attorney so you won't make mistakes or leave out important info

Call the court clerk and ask about filing fees and other info. about meetings and hearings.Mail the papers to the bankruptcy clerk (attach the filing fee and insert a pre-addressed/stamped return envelope so your copy of the petition can be sent to you.Again, you might want to consult with a bankruptcy attorney, this time with regard to your representation.

Right, 655321, it's not like you're going to be extradited for your debts and make you pay... and even if you;re here the worst thing that can be done to you is sue you for judgment ... but the thing is, you're not in the country ...

I agree with them, i dont think the creditors are going to go after you or your parents (if they didnt co-sign any of your credit) while youre abroad - unless youre asking because youre coming back soon? if so, it's better that you do debt relief, and if youre asking if you can do debt relief while abroad - the answer is yes.it doesnt have that many legal documentations or requirements. just your amount of debt and account status and of course your payments.

I dnot think you need to file bankruptcy, and also your attorney is right you need to have some written proof of your resident, otherwise you wont be able to file bankruptcy.
