Help for debt problems - identify and separate your debt types (secured and unsecured), get your total balance as well as interest rates for each debt type, also get the total amount you are spending on monthly payments for each debt -

The reason why you are being asked for your debt type is that there's not much we can do for you if your debt type is unsecured - only you can help yourself with that by talking to your lenders and negotiating your payment terms. But if your debt is unsecured - we could give you tips on debt negotiation, that is, if you'd like to do - it - yourself. There's another option for your unsecured debt - and that's debt relief. You can choose from either credit counseling or debt settlement.

Help for debt problems - credit counseling - if you have a relatively low debt amount, $10k and below, and are still current - you might want to consider credit counseling's Debt Management Plan. It would cost you $25/mo for 3-5 years.

Help for debt problems - debt settlement -if on the other hand, your debt amount is large, $10k and above, and your accounts are past due or almost, consider debt settlement. The program is about cutting your balance into more or less. The industry standard fee is 15% of your total debt amount spread over 18 months. How make sense of that? If you owe $10k, you pay $150/mo. as it is its 15%. There's another structure, 20-25% of the settled amount. I don't know if there are other structures, so when you call them, don't forget to ask about that.
