Hi there, when you say credit card debt relief - you are talking abouta private industry of debt negotiators (not the government). However, the government offers bankruptcy (which was revisedin 2005) to those who would qualify. Bankruptcy is not advisable thougbecause of its credit implications. It's reserved for when the consumerhas other debt types (unsecured) - but if it's just credit card debts -credit counseling or debt settlement are recommended.

when you say credit card debt relief - government - you might also betouching on that scam (letter) operation - claiming they are a representative of the government's credit relief division - which is non existent.

I agree with the previous posts - and to make it clearer - debt relief is a termreferring to credit counseling (Debt Management Plan) which deals with the consumersinterest rates - and then the other one is - debt settlement which deals with the total balance. Both of which are debt negotiation programs - whichhave nothing to do with the government. However, if you are seeking for benefits, grants, and aids from the government - here is where you can search -

Credit Card Debt relief minus the government - I suppose you askedbecause at least if it's by the government it would be less costly or free right? But hey here's how much it's going to cost you to use a professional debtrelief program (credit counseling $25/mo. + one time set up fee) (debt settlement: 15% of ur total debt amount or 20-25% of the settlement amount)
