well in everything there is good and bad.
good:you debts are settledless stressfreedom of not having debt (when that time does come)
bad:credit takes a pretty decent hitif you don't DIY, you might get a bad settlement companyif you don't have the money upfront you will still be in debt even if settled with a company (albeit not as much)chance of no settlement and possible lawsuit (but you'll have plenty of time to act if that happens)so if you can handle the bads, then in the long run yes it is very good :)

sorry that last one might be to hard to read! well in everything there is good and bad.
good: your debts are settled less stress freedom of not having debt (when that time does come)
