Has anyone here experience harassment from a credit collector? How did you handle the situation? Did you file a complaint about the situation?

Dont they (collector) go to your house to inspect your property? My friend of mine is also receiving text messages on his phone and harassing him through phone.

I don't worry to much about the bill collectors because I can sound like a kid.they ask for the person in charge of the bill. I just tell them that he is not home.(My husband). They don't ask me if I'm the spouse because I can sound like a kid.

Whenever a credit collector visits our place, I take a hide or just pretend that no body is home. Not until such time that I have something to pay for it.

I say just put them on hold and never come back to the phone! Hehe. Seriously, I just don't answer.

I dont answer their calls, eventhough they would me call around 10 times a day. Imagine they would start calling from 8am to 7pm! But haven't tried to pretend to be somebody else.

If it's a personal loan, harrassment could be possible. In most cases, its the demand letter that is binding because this is is going be used in court if amicable settlement is not possible.

In one instance where I did talk to a collecter I let them know that I do not take care of the bills. And kindky call back when my husband comes home.

Credit collectors do not have the right to harass you, but they do have the right to demand payment from you by law because of the binding contract of loans.

That's why I like caller ID's and answering machines, If I don' t recognize the call I don't answer the phone. I don't answer "caller unknown".
