How to negotiate credit card debt? With the original creditor - start your offer at 50% -- and expectthat to be rejected. I heard that they usually accept settlement at 75%.

If you're to negotiate your credit card debt - with a collection agency - the settlement offer (letter)would be much lower - say 35% (and they might refuse that too). Keep trying. But whenyou think that you aren't taken seriously - which is true for some consumers - considerenrolling in a professional debt settlement program. Their negotiators would act in behalf of you and would know their way around the collection agencies - having worked withthem for a time.
