The federal credit card bailout is not an official term for President Obama's stimulus package(or funding) awarded to lenders. It's more of an idea. Its aim is to encourage creditors toextend credit & accept debt settlement because of the recent economic recession.

That federal credit card bailout could also be referring to the
The Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009...which is effective right about now- Feb. 2010

Interest rates:--- If the consumer's payment is 60 days late, the credit card company can increase the rate.
Penalty fees:---- Unless the consumer has asked for an over-limit fee, the creditors can't charge the consumer
College students:--- Credit card companies may not market to people under the age of 21, without parental permission, or verification of their ability to pay.

If people are thinking that credit card bailout is synonymous to federal aid or grants - they are mistaken. The government would not make it their priority to help peoplepay for their personal debts - because it would only encourage irresponsible charging, correct?
