Credit or debt relief is not a bad thing, in fact, even the federal government has released funds tohelp the creditors be more accepting of debt settlements. I don't remember what exactly it'scalled though but it has something like the Obama get out of debt plan. All the consumer hasto do really is checkout the background of the settlement company - interview them - askfor proof of settlement, etc.

Speaking of settlement companies - here's a guideline on how to choose a credible & trustworthyone: -- -The settlement company's program must have a fast completion time. 12-36 months.-The program must be able to protect and improve the consumer's credit standing.-Must be a member of the Better Business Bureau, BBB, for at least 5 years.-Must also have a good standing with the Chamber of Commerce-A Member of TASC - The Association Of Settlement Companies and the IAPDA or theInternational Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators
