Have you tried a major purchase of any equipment or things in full cold hard cash? Care to share it here?

I did that. I purchased a $6,000 truck with cash. I had plenty saved up for it. I didn't want to have to get a loan and end up paying more then $6,000 in the end because of all the interest.

Wow huge amounts you have there! But its an advantage really as you can save more from the incurring interest rates.

Yes, of course. When the price of items is not that high, I usually withdraw the amount from my atm, and pay directly. It helps to eliminate the worry of future payments.

Do you mean CASH cash? No I rarely make a purchase over $100 in cash. I'll write checks or use a debit card and not charge it, but I don't like carrying a lot of cash on me. It's also good to have a physical record of your purchase other than a receipt and banks provide some fraud protection in most cases.

Last year I purchased a computer arond $2000 cash. I don't know if that is considered a large sum. For me it is because I had to save up a long time to purchased it.

We bought a car in cold cash. It was just wrapped with a newspaper for security purposes. We opt to use cash since they require additional cost for using a credit card.

This is a good idea because you can save up for what you want. That gives you time to see if you really want something.
This is a good idea because you can save up for what you want. That gives you time to see if you really want something.
I agree. It's a lot harder to spend all that cash in your hands than it is to put on a credit card.

I opt for a personal check or a manager's check instead of carrying cash. If such big amount is involved, we will do transaction inside the bank.
