Debt Settlement Procedures - have everything in writing before you release funds. Remember that you are dealing with collection agencies. They can be pretty cunning.

debt settlement procedures as in how to enroll in debt settlement program? -- Contact the company that you are interested that you're interested in. Have your financial situation assessed. Once that information has been analyzed, they would be able to provide you with a firm estimate of a monthly payment, the total cost of the program, and how much they can potentially save you. If you are comfortable with those figures, at that point you are typically sent a contract and additional paperwork that is to be signed and sent back along with your recent account statements. Once the settlement company receives the paperwork back, you can be officially enrolled in the program and negotiators can begin contacting your creditors. In addition, the company will at that time give you advice on what you need to do while you are enrolled in their program.

Good questions - to answer the 1st one - There are states that prohibit or restrict professional debt settlement services. That means that even if the consumer qualifies in the debt settlement program, it would not be possible to enrolled in it, because of the state law. The consumer would have to resort into the Do-It-Yourself debt settlement option if he/she lives in these states:Giorgia-Idaho-Kansas-Maine-Mississippi-Minnesota-North and South Carolina-Utah-Wisconsin

To answer the 2nd question - Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Iowa, South Dakota, and Oklahoma because they have state laws that can protect the consumers from (judgments) wage garnishments and/or liens on their property.
