I actually don't have any idea which company you're referring to but I looked up "consumer credit counseling" in Washington and came up with Consumer Credit Counseling of America Inc. a.k.a. Clearpoint Financial Solutions - it's a BBB accredited business, must be safe.

It has an A+ rating. There's also Consumer Credit Counseling Northwest in Washington, a BBB accredited business and has an A+ rating as well.

Oh that's great! Thank you all, one more question - what should I look for in a counseling agency after I make a list from there?

This is from the Better Business Bureau:-Before you select a credit counseling agency ask for information on the following:-Are the agency services confidential?-Will they devise a plan tailored to fit your needs?-Are the counselors certified?-Are budget and credit education opportunities offered?-Will your funds be protected? How?-Is the agency accredited?-Aside from BBB membership (www.bbb.org) the consumer should also check its affiliation with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling
