I'm sure there are programs for debt sponsored by the government ..my problem is, I don't know what they are...or where to read about them, can you maybe give examples or links? Thanks!

Government debt relief programs you mean? I don't know any either -- aside from bankruptcy...

There are no debt relief programs by the government ..but there are assistance programs for low income families - for food, utility bills, and rent but..like a debt relief grant? I don't think so.You might want to read this: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre19.shtm

Government debt programs for student loan?If it is federal and not private there is the federal student loan consolidation program, which allows the consumer to consolidate his/her loans into one (on a lower interest rate and one affordable monthly payment)
