And once you get a list of companies, you can check them out at the Better Business Bureau site as well. What successful debt settlement experiences would tell you, basically, is that they were able to finish their program (12-36 months) and that they were able to save money as well.

My experiences with debt settlement exceeded my expectations. The company I dealt with was located in NY and they were professional and courteous. I had just over $100k in unsecured debt and I am now debt free in just 2 years. It is important to choose the right company when you decide to go the route of debt settlement. I would strongly recommend using the company I went with, PM me if you want to talk. Good luck everyone!

I have recently spoken with a debt expert and what he can say about debt settlement is that the bad experiences with it come from: 1) The debt settlement company was not a good one 2) The consumer misunderstood the payment structure and quit 3) The consumer dropped out of the program due to unfortunate change in financial situation. Other than that, if the consumer graduates in the program, the consumer becomes debt free, & was also able to save some money on the side.

One thing I recently learned about Debt Settlement Expenses is that most debt settlement companies charge their fees regardless of whether or not they ultimately help you settle a debt. I spoke with a guy named Doug Johnson, who promotes a number of debt relief options, and he explained to me that there is an emerging trend towards charging fees at the end of the program based on how much money the company is able to save you through the settlement. I'd much rather pay for results. Doug called it Debt Compromise. I can't find much on the internet about it, but you can google Doug Johnson Debt Relief and he can tell you more. Which would you prefer, pay expenses in the beginning not knowing how the program will work for you, or pay at the end based on a percentage of the actual savings you received?

Are you overwhelmed with HIGH INTEREST RATES that make it difficult to reduce your balances with minimum payments? If you are in a situation where you feel that you cannot and will not be able to pay back your debt, don’t worry, there are programs out there that can cut your debts in half and reduce your monthly payments by up to 50%........... You should never be ashamed to seek help, no matter your reason for being in debt and no matter how much debt it is. Millions of Americans are struggling with their debts right now; that is why Congress has passed new legislation to keep creditors from taking advantage of consumers. Contrary to what your creditors will tell you, there are options out there for you. Don’t consider bankruptcy until you’ve looked at all of your options. There are companies set up to explain these options to you, FOR FREE. One of them is Consumer Debt Advisors (www.cdadebtsolutions.org), they’ll let you know what option is best for you and offer a free consultation to see if you qualify. Don’t feel trapped or let the creditors control you, call Consumer Debt Advisors at 877-548-5403 or try them online at www.cdadebtsolutions.org. Their website has a lot of information about what alternatives there are to bankruptcy or paying the 25% interest the creditors are charging you
