Some of the ramifications of filing bankruptcy includes having a bad credit record due to the bankruptcy notation. Depending on the chapter you've filed for, it may remain on your file for 7-10 years

Ramifications of filing bankruptcyIt would be hard for you to obtain new credit, loans, - and even if it is prohibited for companies to discriminate against you because of your bankruptcy, you'd find out that it's hard to lease an apartment or get a job because you would be considered "high risk."

Ramifications of filing bankruptcyBefore you file bankruptcy, you are required to take credit counseling, that would cost you about $50. Then there's your filing fee (Chapter 7 $299/ Chapter 13 $274) and then your attorney fees, which should be a more or less $2,000.

Ramifications of filing bankruptcyBankruptcy doesn't discharge all debts. There are exceptions. Although it can discharge most unsecured debts. If that is the case, the consumer should do debt settlement instead. Debt settlement deals with unsecured debt and its affect on your credit is not as great as a bankruptcy. It is cheaper too.
