what is the best way to help me pay bills?Bankruptcy is one of the ways to get you out of your situation but only if you have reached the state of insolvency--that is, when your debts exceed the number or amount of your assets.

Bankruptcy will remain on your credit report for 7 years if you filed for Chapter 13, and 10 years if you file for Chapter 7. That is why Karess says to consider it as a last resort in getting your debt taken care of.If you're also saying "help me pay my bills," then you can also consolidate your debt thru credit counseling and debt settlement.

If you're also saying "help me pay my bills," then you can also consolidate your debt thru credit counseling and debt settlement.Debt settlement allows you to pay for a percentage less than the full amount that you owe. You're given an opportunity to complete the settlement amount in 12-36 months' time.Credit counseling on the other hand enables you to pay your debts for a five year period, with lowered interest rates, no fees, and one consolidated payment for all your creditors.

Depending on your financial situation, the best way to help yourself is to enroll in a debt relief program. If your balance is not too high (less than $10,000) and ur accounts are still current - do credit counseling (Debt Management Plan). Have ur interest rates negotiated so u can get at ur principle amount much quicker. And after credit counseling, should u decide to do the negotiation yourself - then don't enroll in their DMP anymore.
