Could you tell us what exactly a debt dispute letter template is for? You're right on that Deborah. A debt dispute letter, also known as a debt validation letter, informs the creditor or debt collector that you do not owe the debt. This document needs to be sent within a specific period of time (30 days I believe), in order for your dispute to be processed accordingly. You also need to send supplementing information such as a receipt or a statement from the creditor proving that you did not avail of the product or service that they claimed you did.

Also, once your creditor receives your debt dispute letter, your creditor should not be contacting you until the debt has been validated and all dispute proceedings are completed. Some debt collection agencies may stop activity for two weeks at the most.

Right, Wondergurl--the validation period is indeed 30days.
