What are the debt collection call times as prescribed by the FDCPA? Are there any state-specific call times enforced in a particular state?

The debt collection call times are 8 AM to 9 PM, according to the debtor's time zone. Any attempt of contact earlier or later than that is considered an FDCPA violation.

In Georgia, the debt collection call times are slightly different. According to their state law, a collection agency is not permitted to contact the debtor in any form beyond 10PM and before 5AM.

If a violation against the allowable debt collection call times occurs, what you can do is file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can also send a copy of the complaint to the state agency that regulates debt collection activity, especially in the area where that collection agency's home office is.
