The Association of Debt Settlement Companies, or rather
the Association of Settlement Companies, is one of the two trade organizations in the debt settlement industry. They help in securing industry standards designed for consumer protection against unfair and unethical business practices. The other organization in question is the United States Organization for Bankruptcy Alternatives, or the USOBA.

Does the Association of Debt Settlement Companies also include non-profit organizations?Non-profit Debt settlement agencies do not exist, True Beauty. Although the TASC is in itself a non-profit organization, there are no known operating non-profit debt settlement companies. If one such company offers their services to you, it's a scam.

Another one of the Association of debt Settlement Companies' functions is to protect consumer rights. A lot of individuals sadly have been victimized by fraudulent debt settlement agencies with self-serving interests. Aside from that, TASC also lobbies for the rights of debt settlement companies in the government.
