What happened with Allegro Law Firm? "Here is the official press release from the Alabama Attorney General’s office. The Attorney General’s Office and the Alabama Securities Commission are suing a Prattville attorney and the companies he is operating in what is alleged to be one of the largest debt settlement schemes in the nation involving approximately 15,000 customers and millions of dollars nationwide. Autauga County Circuit Judge Ben Fuller is considering a request to grant a preliminary injunction against defendants Allegro Law LLC, Allegro Financial Services LLC, and Keith Anderson Nelms."

What happened with Allegro Law Firm? I looked up Allegro Law LLC at the BBB site and found 5 entries. One in NJ, 2 in AL, and 2 in NY...AL is suing so...I clicked one AL and found these:-not accredited by the BBB-this business has a BBB Rating of F on a scale from A+ to F.-BBB processed a total of 163 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 163 complaints closed in 36 months, 159 were closed in the last year.

What would this mean for Allegro Law Firm? Would the owner be disbarred or not? Would giving up the debt settlement business save the law firm?

Allegro Law FirmPerhaps not...The Attorney General’s Office and the Alabama Securities Commission are seeking a permanent injunction, civil penalties, and other relief. The Alabama Deceptive Trade Practices Act authorizes civil penalties of up to $2,000 for each act or practice found to be in violation of the Act.

I was a client of Allegro up until 5 or 6 months ago. I enrolled in their program, and was with them for about 3 months, when I realized something fishy was going on. I immediately canceled my contract with them (with no refund coming back to me for the $4,000 I had given them, of course!) and did a little research. I found a company who has been great to me, they treat me like a human being, and have already settled 2 of my accounts for 70% savings. I was leery at first at giving ANY debt negotiation company a shot, but bankruptcy is not an option for me, and I have tried CCCS before and got nowhere. I wish you the best of luck! ~Jane
