Get rid of debt without paying - does that happen? Is it at all possible?Well yes...if it turns out that it wasn't your debt after all, you know when you have your collectors verify the debt that they claim you owe, but turns out you don't?Other than that...I don't know...

You can also get rid of debt without paying if the statute of limitations on your debt has expired.

Get rid of debt without paying - does that happen? Is it at all possible?Somebody already said something about verifying the debt. How it works is that - a collection agency contacts a consumer. The consumer requests for that debt to be verified. The collection agency fails to verify that debt or prove that it's the consumer's. Debt doesn't exist. There's another one, as a defense,  the consumer, can check his/her state's statute of limitations on debt collection. If turns out that it has expired on that debt - he/she could still be sued -- but the court might dismiss the case via the SoL. But the question remains, does the consumer owe that debt? If he/she does, he/she will have to pay that back somehow.

Get rid of debt without paying - does that happen? Is it at all possible? In short...not really. If you are looking for ways to pay your debt though - if it is unsecured - you can employ the services of a credit counseling agency or a debt settlement company. If the debt is secured, as long as your credit is good, and your income is good for years down the road, you can try getting a debt consolidation loan.

Get rid of debt without paying - does that happen? Is it at all possible? If not...How about filing bankruptcy - can the consumer file bankruptcy and not pay anything?

Get rid of debt without paying - does that happen? Is it at all possible? If not...How about filing bankruptcy - can the consumer file bankruptcy and not pay anything? There would be filing fees and attorney fees for those who are not going to do it d-i-y. So the answer is no. However, in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, there is such a thing as a  hardship discharge, in which,  the consumer finding his/her financial situation taking a turn for the worse, finds herself/himself unable to pay or continue with the repayment plan, is granted by the court a hardship discharge.

GET RID OF DEBT WITHOUT paying too much? This is very possible with debt settlement. Debt settlement companies will  charge 15% of the total debt amount  spread over 18 months or take a percentage of the settlement amount (20-25%).For a $10,000 debt, the consumer pays $150, as opposed to the regular $800 (more or less) regular payments.
