I wonder if government debt relief assistance is feasible? I have $35k in CC debt alone and other debts that also need to be taken care of. If you could give me the steps on how this can be done, it would be greatly apreciated. Thank you!

If you're thinking of government debt relief assistance such as grants to consolidate your debt, think again--the government doesn't offer such things.

Karess is right. You won't find any government debt relief assistance anywhere. In fact Grants.gov states that they do not provide financial assistance for debt relief and consolidation. If you're having trouble with your finances, it's best to seek debt relief options through credit counseling and debt settlement.

How can I do that? I have $20k in Credit Card debt, most of which are charged off.... So bankruptcy isn't an option for me then?

Since you can't find government debt relief assistance, yes you definitely need to look for other options, but just to let you know--bankruptcy isn't always the best option. If anything, you should consider that as your last resort in getting your debt taken care of.

The best way to get your CC debt taken care of is thru debt settlement. This way, you wouldn't be required to pay for the full amount that you owe. Your creditor will also agree to forgive a certain amount and your debt will be deemed as "settled." It will also take around 12-36 months before the debts would be settled completely.
