I owe a lot of money...What kind of debt are we talking about? Secured or unsecured, both? Would you calculate how much you have all in all and let's see how we can help you.

I owe a lot of money...Okay, there's not much option if your debt is mostly secured. Other than obtaining a debt consolidation loan - I guess, try to negotiate the payment terms and interest rates with your lenders. And then there's bankruptcy. File if you need the automatic stay provision, otherwise, think of other ways to pay down your debt.

If you're saying "I owe a lot of money," especially at present, would you mind filling us in on your situation, so we can help you out further?

don'tyoushiver some people take out money from their 401k or their home equity too - but you are right, along with bankruptcy and debt consolidation loans - those are really not recommended. Unless the consumer's credit is good, in which case he/she would get a good loan (interest rates wise). For consumers who say "I owe a lot of money" and they mean unsecured debts, depending on their debt amount and account status, there is professional help available.

What would you advice a consumer who says "I owe a lot of money - but I'm unemployed."?

What would you advice a consumer who says "I owe a lot of money - but I'm unemployed."?Apply for unemployment benefits and decide how much of it should go to debt payment. If it's enough to enroll in a debt management plan or debt settlement, I think that the consumer should prioritize that.

Wow, you are good! Thank you but how much would debt relief cost?
