Settle debt with DiscoverHi Andrea, there are a couple of guys here that are debt experts or debt gurus, and I found out from them that Discover doesn't really work with settlement companies - if the account is still with them - but once they turn the account over to a third party collection agency, the story changes.

Oh that's good to hear, what do you mean turn it over to a third party collection agency? And how long should I wait for that..should I even? I mean wouldn't my debt amount increase if I do that?

Settle debt with DiscoverLate fees and interest accrue would accrue but your total balance would be negotiated anyway. Remember that a successful settlement means that your debt balance was reduced to more or less half.Your first issue was if Discover would settle right? They won't (because they want the full amount) but again the third party collection agency will and your account would be turned over to it in 150-180 days.

If you want to settle debt with Discover, here's what you need to know: they offer a debt consolidation loan for existing account holders, using fixed-rate installment loan. If you want to know which rates they are willing to work with, I suggest contacting them directly to know more.
