hullo, I also want to share a debt settlement success story of my own. I had a $15,000 credit card debt with Bank of America and I was not able to pay for it on time because of medical concerns. I spoke with the debt collectors there to work out a settlement and they agreed to take out half of it, and I was able to pay it in one lump sum, and I am happy i got it over with.

Miranda, good for you! BoA hardly accepts settlements but it's refreshing to see your testimony about that here!Just to also follow up on what Caffeinatrix said--I did some research on Hoffman Brinker, they've got an A+ from the BBB and zero complaints from customers. Comes to show that they are indeed a good company to do business with.

Thanks for sharing, Miranda! I hope everyone who drops by on this thread can post their debt settlement success stories here. It doesn't matter whether they worked with a settlement company or they did it their own...

In reference to debt settlement success stories-- are their a higher chances of success if you settle it yourself, or if you do it with a debt settlement company? Which is the better option?

I have a success story that I would like to share with everyone. I was 30,000 in debt , 3 months behind in my payments and getting 15 calls day from collectors. I researched many companies before finally choosing one. I ended up going with a company called Whitelight Financial http://www.whitelightfinancial.org/ . I choose them because there fees were lower then the others and they also offered additional services such as Tax help and a creditor repair program that helped me rebuild my credit once i had paid it off . I have heard many horror stories about debt settlement companies however this was not the case with me. I joined there program 2 and 1/2 years ago and as of last month just paid my last account off. While i was told that the harassment calls would stop most did but not all of them which forced me to change my telephone number. Other then that everything really worked out. I had 6 accounts and they were able to reduce my debt on each of the cards to well below half. With fees I ended up paying around 14,000.00 and I'm now in the process of working with them to rebuild my credit. I just got a secured credit card and they are working on having some of my late marks and other damaging marks removed from my credit report. I was asked by my debt consultant that if i was satisfied with there services to post my story. As I have been more then satisfied with both him and his company I would like to rec amend them to people struggling and have fallen behind with there debts and who would like to find a solution other then filing Bankruptcy. I have listed my cnsultants name below just let him know Kathy Johnston referred you. Consultants Name - Nick Jones  1-877-378-3593 Whitelight Financial http://www.whitelightfinancial.org/
