I've noticed a few posts here pertaining to sample letters to creditors on their specific concerns regarding their debts, and much in the same way you can use this sample letter to dispute a debt in the event that the need arises. http://www.debt-n-credit-letters.com/Debt-Dispute/debt-dispute-letter-1.htmlHope this helps you!

Aside from needing a sample letter to dispute debt, how would you know if indeed the claim of the dispute is valid??

If a consumer is indeed disputing a debt, they need to send proof of its validity. In turn the collection agency--or the creditor themselves--will send a verification of this as well. It's a wise move to send a letter disputing a debt. You just need to make sure that it would be sent within the time period allowed by the creditor.

The sample letter to dispute a debt is a fitting response to a collection demand letter that you receive from a creditor, and you are stating that the debt is not yours, or you never made the purchase in the first place. These are just few of the reasons why a debt is disputed.

Right, and the time period should be thirty days from the day the letter was sent I think.
