I don't think there is an official National Debt Reduction program. There are, however, debt reduction programs or debt relief programs available for businesses and individuals.

But that's debt settlement x and y, I think a debt reduction program is different from a debt elimination program.

Right. What would resemble a national debt reduction program would be credit counseling and its Debt Management Plan (DMP)

If you're wondering how much it's going to cost you -Credit counseling is non-profit but their Debt Management Plan would cost around $25/mo. after the one time set up fee.

Debt settlement companies would charge 15% of your total debt amount -spread over 18 months or they will take between 20-25% of the settlement amount.

Or perhaps you don't need the aid of national debt reduction programs..or any of those professional debt relief companies..maybe you can manage your own finances of you only know how..and then negotiate your interest rates with your lenders...if you know how..

How does the national debt reduction program work? who came up with it?That would be quite hard to answer..but the debt relief industry is pretty new. The best debt settlement companies are only about 5 years old.
