Before you file your bankruptcy application, you would have to undergo/complete a government approved mandatory credit counseling course 180 days before - also a pre-discharge debtor education.

For Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, application and other fees:The courts must charge a $245 case filing fee, a $39 miscellaneous administrative fee, and a $15 trustee surcharge. Normally, the fees must be paid to the clerk of the court upon filing. With the court's permission, however, individual debtors may pay in installments.Chapter 13:The courts must charge a $235 case filing fee and a $39 miscellaneous administrative fee. Normally the fees must be paid to the clerk of the court upon filing. With the court's permission, however, they may be paid in installments.

Attorney's fees:More or less on the $1,500 to $2,000 range for Chapter 7, and $2,500 to $4,000 for Chapter 13. The more work for the lawyer, the more expensive it is.
