debt, credit cards - what is your goal really, to keep current with your payments (manage your bills) or completely eliminate your debts? if it's the latter, you'd have to completely stop payments because otherwise, the creditors wouldn't agree to settle your debt for more or less half of its original amount..

Do you think filing for bankruptcy will do the trick in getting rid of m y credit cards debt?

It could but if it's not necessary to file bankruptcy..don't file bankruptcy. Try the alternative to it first - credit counseling or debt settlement.

you can start by paying off the ones with high interest rates first. that or the ones with the highest balance. pay them down one by one.

You can also do a balance transfer. Whatever you do though, don't take out a loan from your 401k or mortgage. When it comes to debt and credit cards, always choose the negotiation route, not the debt consolidation loan route.

But isnt a balance transfer a way to get me into worse credit cards debt? :(

A balance transfer is, in essence, getting a loan to pay off all your other loans. Lasher is right, it may bring you even more credit cards debt, because you will have to worry about paying for more interest charges and other fees on top of the balances that you already owe.
It may seem like a viable short-term option, but its eventual effects may bring you long-term harm.
