Hopefully this becomes part of your do it yourself debt settlement guide:It helps to be prepared first and also to be really assertive. Creditors have a tendency to ask you to settle according to their terms (which of course is understandable, given that you owe then money), but you also need to state your case and inform them about your current financial situation, which is precisely why you were asking for a settlement in the first place.

Would you know if there is a free do it yourself debt settlement guide that credit counselors give away? I want to try credit counseling for a couple months just to get some tips on settling my debts myself. Any ideas?
