Hi....I am new to the forum. I am feeling really anxious about my credit card debt.  I owe about $8,000 all on one credit card.  My credit score is good and I make my monthly payment but I want to get rid of it. I feel like the way I am going now my credit card debt is increasing.  I don't think I a responsible enough to pay it off on my own plan. What should I do? Should I go to a debt counselor?  If so where? Should I take a loan out and pay it?  Also are there some tips on how I don't use my credit card too much so I don't get into more debt?  Thanks a lot!!!

nydebt - if that is all you owe, just on one card, then destroy the card and formulate a plan to pay it down.  This would depend on your personal income and budget and what your payment would be.  A little more information would be helpful.

You say your not responsible enough to pay it on your own? You need to take a long hard look at your financial future. If you can not pay one credit card, then you should not have any credit. The only way to get out of this debt and KEEP you good credit score is to pay it. No other option will keep your credit intact and in good standing. If you have the ABILITY to pay, then you need to pay more than your minimum payment every month. AS MUCH as you can afford. You should not get another loan to pay this loan since you already stated you are not responsible enough to pay it off.  That is robbing peter to pay paul. Tips on not using your credit card? Sorry to sound like a a cliche' but you need to cut it up and continue to pay it.
