How long does settlement stay on your credit report. I read an article from one of the posts here and they say 7 years I though i was 5.

How long does credit counseling stay on your credit report? 4-5 years? I'm not sure but it might appear in the report as "Enrolled in a Debt Management Plan" until it is paid off, and then it would register as "Paid" or "Paid in Full."

How long does bankruptcy stay on your credit report? Chapter 13 stays on your credit report for 7 years, while Chapter 7 bankruptcy stays on your credit report for 10 years. Both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy stay on your public records for 20 years.

Your settled account will remain on your credit profile for 7 years and be listed as. "debt settled for less than full balance" You may however, have recourse to get the ORIGINAL creditor to remove the account all together.
