I've heard of these so-called debt help experts and I need to know which of them can help me out best in my situation, so I can get out of my debt! Are their get-out-of-debt schemes proven to be effective anyways?

Right, there's quite a number of debt help experts available on the market, and they publish books, appear on TV, host radio shows, and the like. More often than not they suggest ways on how to fix your financial situation and each of them state that their approach is "the best way" to get out of debt. The choice actually is entirely yours. It will depend on whose plan of action is most suited for your current financial situation.

One of the debt help experts who've made themselves known on the media is Suze Orman. She is best known for her “Twelve Steps to Wealth” program, designed to help individuals gradually get out of debt. Orman does not offer any get-out-of-debt-quick solutions; rather, her main goal is educating people on how to manage their finances carefully using a workable and realistic method. The method in question is paying off the debts that have the largest interest rates first, in the hopes that the consumer would have less to pay off in the future.

Suze Orman also asserts the need for debtors to pay more than the minimum due each month. After the first credit card with the highest interest rate has been paid off, Orman says to utilize that card's payment to ther card that has the second highest rate. This process will be applied to all existing credit cards, until everything has been paid off. If this is not possible to be done by yourself, Orman proposes to employ the services of a debt consolidation company to help you.

Right. Kevin Trudeau isn't exactly what you would call one of the debt help experts. His ways and means of getting people out of debt are not very relevant with regard to debt relief. His books, which claim to educate consumers on getting out of debt, cost at $40-45 and critics state that the information he shares on these self-help manuals can actually be found on the internet for free.

I think Dave Ramsey is one of the more credible debt help experts. What do you guys thinkRight, Dave Ramsey also has some good ideas about eliminating debt. He counsels according to a Christian perspective, which I think is very helpful. He's also not like the guys who claim they're Christians and do really unfair things to consumers. If Suze Orman lobbies for paying off the balances with the higher interest rates first, Ramsey encourages consumers to pay off the balances with smaller interest. It develops a psychological motivation for the consumer to keep on saving and keep on paying, as they are able to see progress being made.
