I wonder if you could give me some advice on lowering interest rates? I have had difficulty with paying my bills because of this. Been tyring to make payments on my loans to no avail--it seems like every payment I make doesn't do anything to the principle amount I owe! Thanks for your advice and have a good one ahead.

Lowering credit card interest rates is actually easier than anyone thinks. It's really as simple as making a phone call to your creditor and make a request that you'd like to avail for a lower interest rate. Most cases end up being successful, actually--57% of users who have simply made a phone call request for this received instant results. The percentages dropped significantly, ranging from 7-10 pts from the present rate. I'd suggest for you to go ahead and try it.I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

I'm afraid that if I do this I may not be able to qualify and succeed on lowering credit card interest rates because I have a bad credit rating given my previous debts. What are the requirements for me to be eligible for this?

To be eligible for a verbal request on lowering credit card interest rates--aside from having good credit, sans late notations on your credit report, there are other qualifications:- Your debt-to-income ratio shouldn't be too high- You shouldn't have a very high balance on your card- You pay more than the minimum amount that's required of you each month- You have a good payment record with that creditor- Your credit card isn't a sub-prime card.

On lowering credit card interest rates, I know that you can also be able to request this from your creditor thru writing them a letter. A sample of that can be found here.

Lowering your credit card interest rates is also possible thru credit counseling. If you are qualified for their debt management program, the interest rate that you currently have will be lowered down to 15%.

You can do what Purple Cow suggested in lowering credit card interest rates, which is thru a credit counseling option. You first need to go through a series of meetings with your credit counselor, and if they are able to assess the need for a debt management program, they will enroll you on one.
