"Is debt consolidation bad for your credit?" For the most part, I believe not--in fact it helps in building up your credit even more, by allowing you to make payments on your loans in a more effective way.

Is debt consolidation bad for your credit?A big fat NO. Bankruptcy is bad for your credit, but debt consolidation won't have drastic effects on your credit report. Depending on the chapter of bankruptcy you've filed for, it will remain on your credit history for 7-10 years, and your public records for 20.

Is debt consolidation bad for your credit? What is so bad about eliminating one's debts? Isn't that a good thing in the long run? People should really look at the bigger picture here. That or learn about what's in their credit report.

You have to calm down Arquivos...Of course people are concerned about their credit, also the cost of debt consolidation, they want to get out of debt remember? And not make it worse - Hey fishnchips, here's a breakdown of your credit report, see which elements are going to be affected by debt consolidation:-35% Payment History- 30% Amount Owed-15% Length of Credit History-10% New Credit-10% Types of Credit UsedYou might be interested to know also that debt settlement appears on the credit report as "settled", "settled for less than the full balance", or "settled in full." It's indeed better than a bankruptcy.
