How can I settle credit card debt? There are two ways in order for this to be done. First is by hiring the services of a debt settlement company, and the other is by doing it yourself. For the former, your credit card debt should first be at $10k or higher in order to qualify for a debt settlement. From what I know about the latter, this doesn't necessarily apply, though I may be wrong. The debts also need to be in delinquent status in order for them to qualify for a settlement. Can you tell us more about your situation so we can help you out further?

I have debts that are really huge, like $25-26k huge. they're mostly from credit cards. i have no problem with my house and whatnot but I am wondering if the utility bills can also be consolidated too?How much if i settle with a debt settlement company? I mean how much do i pay them? Or is there a free service that can help me?

It will take typically 15% of your total debt amount which serves as a fee for the debt settlement company.

And free debt-settlement companies do not at all exists. If anything, if companies claim to be such, they are more often than not frauds.

dancedancedance --- how can i settle my credit card debt if i am out of job?You need to have a steady source of income in order to be able to settle your credit card debt with a debt settlement company, because aside from making monthly payments, you also need to make payments for your set-up fee. Being unable to keep up with the payments enhances the risk of being in a worse situation than before. What you can do in the meantime is seek other alternatives aside from debt settlement.
