Why Should I Pay Taxes?

Posted on September 3, 2009 at 4:39 am
I feel like the government is THE thievery corporation. This whole idea of running and maintaining a civilization - improving it via legalized extortion is just not right. I do it anyway. Pay taxes because Jesus said 'pay unto Caesar what's Caesar's.' Fine Jesus, but it doesn't mean that I like seeing my hard earned money garnished in that clandestine manner. Ugh. Shouldn't it be voluntary? What do you folks think? Why should you and I pay taxes?

Jesus is so sweet. Also could it be that the taxes pay for all the government services that you are enjoying? Smooth roads, bridges, lighting, water, power ...defense...Why should you and I pay taxes? Because we don't want to revert back to the barbaric period in which the system is free for all? If people stop paying taxes, the government would cease to exist, and then there would be chaos just like back when.

Why should we pay taxes...I think because...the concept of taxation is noble. The ones who are implementing it, are maybe questionable. I suppose the better question to ask is...if there are seemingly unfair taxation laws, why are they not being reformed? Is it possible that some groups are profiting from them? The citizenry clearly are not happy anymore and that's not a good thing.

Why should you and I pay taxes...You know, if the population is not as big as it is, if for example the unit that's being taxed is small -- say 300. Paying taxes would not be an issue. I think this whole taxation issue only arise at the Federal level where people start to question where their money is going especially lately with the rise of unemployment and consumer debt. Where is the tax money going? The Federal government uses those tax dollars to support Social Security, health care, national defense and social services. So why should I or why do I pay taxes? Well, do I have a choice?

Why should I pay taxes...Aside from I can't afford not to as the government would go after me if I don't...I'm not rich enough to move to countries that are tagged "Tax Havens." It's interesting what Gideon 301 said about small units not having issues with tax. Some small countries in Europe and the Middle East seem to live up to that theory. Countries like Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, and Dubai are some examples.

Why should I pay taxes? It's because the words "tax evasion" scare me. The letters I.R.S. scare me too. The concept of jail scares me too.

Why should I pay taxes?Everything is taxable.I suppose I can avoid not paying taxes-- if I live like a hermit in some remote mountain, that is, and that would not be classified as tax evasion. That's one idea that the Hippies and the new age movement embraced. Looks like it didn't work though as it has been relegated to a mere nostalgia inducing movement, that's also from time to time-- hip.Truth is, we can't afford to pay for our own existence. Not anymore. The civilization/government concept happened. Where even dying is taxable. It's illegal to be buried in your own backyard when you die, isn't it? So I should pay my taxes. It's more peaceful and convenient that way.

Why should I pay taxes? It is because of the four R's: revenue (roads, schools, hospitals, and other government agencies), redistribution (social welfare), repricing (higher taxes on luxury items so some basic items could be discounted), and representation (power to demand).

Tax debt is considered as a very serious matter. Why should I pay my taxes, you ask? because if a consumer isn't able to do so, they stand the chance of losing their home, bank account, vehicle, and even your paycheck. That's because the IRS has the authority to seize and confiscate these things.

The good news is, you can actually be able to apply for a repayment plan if you aren't able to pay your tax debts. I believe there are certain qualifications for this to be met.
