Obtaining money for debt. . . . there are a lot of ways to do this.
If you don't mind me asking first, mei_mei, do you have a steady source of income, or at least disposable income? Having a steady income is the most effective way in order to have money to pay for your debt . . .

Well you can get a government grant for this, right? I mean money doesn't really come that easy and paying back a loan is equally harder. But getting a govt grant for money for debt can help you out lots I think

I think not, Purple Suede. Government grants do not accommodate debt elimination or consolidation. They may be used for other means but to pay off debts? Not an option. The application will most likely be denied if one chooses to apply a government grant just to obtain money for debt.

I have a job but have an insurmountable amount of debt. I dont know what to do to get rid of it to be honest, but I know that I need to because I don't want my credit to get any more worse. It's currently totaling $39k in the unsecured debt alone. I also have rent and utilities to take care of. I sure wish something can really be done about this because if not I just might have to leave the country. Or file for bankruptcy

Sorry to hear about that mei_mei.
What you can do to gather money for debt is also try getting a second job, or do some jobs on the side. By increasing your income you'd be able to pay off your debts in a much better manner and also still be able to take care of your more important debts and bills, such as your rent and utilities.

Another way for you to save money for debt is to cut transportation costs. Carpooling, commuting if your employer allows it, or buying the right gas for your car may enable you to save a little, but the little that you save can go a long way. Not to mention that it can also help the environment.

Government grants as money for debt? Naaah. Right they're gonna deny you of that. One thing you can do is to get a government grant for a small business, put up that business, and use the revenue to pay off your debts. The downside of that is the time factor, you're gonna wait so long until the debts are paid off. But at least you wouldn't pay anything back to the government.

Would you consider getting a loan as money for debt?

I would not. It may seem to be a good source of money for debt, but really, it doesn't do much to help alleviate your debt troubles. It's adding unnecessary burdens, pressure, and expenses on yourself. NOt a good idea at all.
