Anybody heard of the Credit Counseling Centers of America? Heard of them thru a neighbor who used their services a couple years ago. Here's my story, I have $45,000 in unsecured debt alone. My secured debts are another story. I need help, else I would have to file for bankruptcy. I know i have a number of options and bankruptcy is not the best way for me just yet.

According to the official website, they have transitioned all their clients' accounts over to Money Management International, Inc. in 2007. You may want to work with that company instead.

Oh I see. Now I'm a bit wary of that. Does anyone have an idea of how the company works?

MMI does not have accreditation with the Better Business Bureau--in fact they have revoked their membership from the Bureau. The company's Wikipedia article states that MMI did not meet specific standards in reference to "charitable accountability," and that some of the material provided by the company were false and misleading to their customers.

Hi, instead of worrying about Credit Counseling Centers of America, why not fill out a form here at destroydebt.com and speak with a debt consultant. It is for free. Who knows, maybe credit counseling is not the right debt solution for you..

Did you say $45,000 of unsecured debt? Are you behind on your payments too? If so, then you qualify for a debt settlement program. You can be debt free in 12-36 months..and not only that, your debt has a chance to be cut down to half..depending on your creditors and how the negotiation goes..
