I personally can't recommend any specific debt advice companies in California--however, what I suggest is looking up the company's listings with the Better Business Bureau or the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. Accreditation is key in these kinds of situations, and they can help you out in a greater extent due to the nature of the quality standards that the company would comply with.

The BBB also has a grading system that will help you gauge how the company in question has been performing the past three years, which is the frame of time that the BBB uses as an evaluation period. The grades range from A+ to F, and they take into consideration the company's age in business, how many complaints have been garnered, and other pertinent customer feedback.

Why not interview several debt advice companies? Whether or not you are in California, speaking with the company's representative would give you an idea as to whether or not you can work with or even trust that company with your financial issue.
