Free debt consolidators? I believe you are referring to non-profit debt consolidators--because none of these services actually
are free.

Could you fill us in more on your situation, so that we can recommend action plans that can work for your situation? Specific situations call for certain solutions after all, and not every debt consolidation technique may work for all instances.

Sorry to hear that crash test dummy. The best thing that you need to do right now is to take care of your mortgage payment--being unable to do so may lead to your home being foreclosed by your creditor. Mortgage is a priority debt and must be dealt with accordingly. You may also try to borrow against your 401(k) or consolidate your unsecured debts, such as your credit card bills and medical bills. That way you have options on taking care of these dues.

Yes, you may. Given your debt amount on the unsecured accounts, the best way to deal with it is thru debt settlement. That way, you'll be able to pay just a portion of the loan balance and your creditor will consider it as "settled." It will also take you as little as a year for the debt to be settled.

Free debt consolidators wouldn't be in business for very long. So, crash test dummy, you need to understand that you won't be able to find them. So Lurker be careful there because technically the answer is no. However, if you are looking for a debt settlement company, you could enroll all of your unsecured debts, but the fees are typically 15% of your total debt amount. They are spread out over a time period of 12-18 months and included in the monthly payment that the company sets for you.

It's interesting how these companies say that Even if they say they're nonprofit they still charge a certain amount, which is Around $25-30. This is an industry standard, just so you know.
