I've heard that if a card doesn't have a balance (when filing 7 or 13) that you can still keep that card and use it, that it isn't affected. Is that true?

That is a good question. But you have to think of why one is filing for BK? It is to get out of debt. So why would one get into debt again?

I'm a bit confused as to what the question is..were you asking if you can keep your credit card once you're in a bankruptcy?

Not exactly mate, I think what he meant by "can one keep any cards that didn't have a balance?" was can he charge on those cards while in bankruptcy (?) I'm not sure what the legal answer should be because I'm not a lawyer but something tells me not to charge on them until he gets a discharge.

I think he can use his credit cards with zero balance in bankruptcy if--he paid the balance long before he filed bankruptcy. Otherwise, the creditors and trustees might challenge his petition. Not only that, they may see it as you, having a preference (to pay) a creditor over the other. A thing like that would cost you your bankruptcy case.
